hi lovelies! i had used a terrible quality fondant the other day and the result on my cake was awful. throwing away was not an option... so i had to come up with a new design for the cake to make it presentable. so i covered it with lots of pretty flowers. this is the result. do you like it? thumbs up if you do, down if you don't. let me know. i needed 22 flowers per row. these were made of two layers of flowers each - a smaller one and a larger one. i use satin ice gum paste for this - which i love. then i thin out the edges.

i recommend preparing the flowers a day earlier to dry. otherwise gravity tends to suck the flowers down. which would make the flowers and the cake look a bit sad. i made a really large flower as the focus of attention for the cake. then i attach the flowers.... to paint the top cake, i use light gold by rainbowdust with a touch of vodka. because hey. vodka. just kidding... i brush on the same color on the edge of the colors to make it more cohesive. bringing it all together... attaching the dried flowers the next day. attaching the large gum paste flower. then i'm almost done. i attach the same gold pearls that i used for the center of the rose, to the edge of the top cake.
