have a hole in a plasterboard wall? we won't ask how it happened. but don't worry. use repair mesh to repair it almost as quickly as the hole was made in the first place. but before the hole can be repaired, you first need to remove any loose parts of the plasterboard. just use a utility knife. if you're going to use repair mesh like we are here,

you don't need to worry about chamfering the edges. now let's get the spackle ready. put some water in a container and sprinkle spackling powder until it sinks just below the water's surface. wait a few minutes for the powder to soak up the water. use this time to prepare the repair mesh. take the foil off the back of the mesh and center the mesh over the hole. make sure that the mesh is absolutely smooth.

otherwise, the repair will fail! then stir the spackle until it has a velvety consistency. now it's time to get started! take some spackle and press it well into the mesh-covered hole. spackle the entire surface and then smooth out with a putty knife, applying moderate pressure on the mesh. extend the spackle beyond the edges of the hole to create a good transition. then it's time for another brief break to allow the spackle to dry before applying a second layer.

don't worry if you can still see the mesh or little bumps in the area of the hole. make some more spackle for the second round. remember: sprinkle enough powder until it's just below the water surface. let is soak up the water and then stir. do the second round of spackling across the entire surface. once again, apply the spackle beyond the edges of the hole and make sure this not to leave any marks from the putty knife or other imperfections in the surface. this will save you from having to sand the wall later.

and you're done! the hole in the wall is now just a bad memory! perfect! did you like our video? then give us a thumbs-up and subscribe to our feed. thanks!
