wand streichen patina
wand streichen patina-welcome to a new episode of bella italia! you know that we regularly introduce to you small and large masterpieces of the new italy section. today we have a really great episode for which i looked forward so long, because michel had the honor to build a very grand building in the centre of the rome. national monument to victor emmanuel ii. it is in the heart of rome, the roman forum and the coliseum and manypeople know it. it comes closely here and the place is not quite suitable. this means that you have to change a lot, right? yes, we have a bit squashed in width and in depth
to get the whole picture. any plans? mostly we have to keep floor plans and photos. so you have to change it, without the visitors would notice what has been changed? exactly, that's the difficulty.you studied product design, here you are making new things and here you have to change the things and afterwards they have to look the same . can you do that? yes, we get well out. but it is a challenge in any case. i need about four months. i'm curious. we will inspire you and, i am convinced, that we all are very excited,
how this building will look like. you have just seen where the monument should stand, now you will see where it will be built, namely in the workshop. michel, you have built baseplate, so you can see how large it will be. yes exactly, now it is possible to estimate a bit. we have a meter wide and 60 centimeters deep. here is the column where we just have been and this thing is indeed a bit higher. here are the large stairs. how high is it? almost a meter.ok, this is really massive.
here in rome everything is closely spaced, you can see it all standing on one place.. there is the st. peter's basilica? surmounted of that too? it will overtop. and the coliseum is a little lower and smaller? have you seen if it fit?yes. what is the next step? what happens next? as next, we sort large parts. there are really a great amount of parts. you have to understand, this is a big part from all small parts, which michel must put together. nearly 2000 parts.but that's not the only task that you have to do.
yes exactly, i must not only sort them, but also make sure that all the parts fit together. so the foundation walls must, for example, be cut together, that is an important point. then the whole building needs to be blacked from the inside, so we get no light shine, when we illuminate it. then, of course, they have to be glued. after that, it must be colored and then we get such a thing, here comes back the small stuff, which is then aged and glued, which is actually the biggest step or the most exciting because one really needs a steady hand.
and do you want to create it in three or four months? i hope so. i'm curious, a grandiose project and i can not expect it to be completed. this one has lasted a day and this is the work from about three weeks. these are the 1500 pieces, 500 of them are still missing. now i must sort them again, we have sorted them before, but now you can start! today is the third day, today i am making the towers. these are the two.they are virtually identical, the parts i've already picked out. then i would say, let"s get it started!
we use the dichloromethane, because this is simply a very stable way to connect them. this has no adhesive between them, but really connects the plastic with the plastic. the parts i have glued and dressed to size. the stairs we have finish, there were no difficulties besides the numbers of parts. there were really many parts. now we have prepared all the parts, scraped the joints and cleaned and the stairs have glued. now we can begin to build the foundation walls in order to make the basic framework.
i have glued together all the parts and they fit quite well . then we can actually continue and glue together as the next step. i am making the floor panels today. first of all, the plates will be painted black and sanded, thus remains the obtained black in the joints, the rest we do not need. than we will paint it in white and i hope the black comes through so that we achieve joint pattern. i ground on the plate, so that we have the black only in the joints and the rest is blank again and then it goes on!
now you can see here that the joints are black and the rest white again. the next step will be painting it white with a base color, then we shade it with another color and then with red and gray. the floor panels are finished. we are adding two more colors, white twice, once a shade of red, and a bit of gray. the black is great as we wanted. this also has a slight blue tint, as in the original. maybe at the end we will use the pigments
during coloring of the entire building, but as the whole this is actually quite consistent. i will build today upper transverse strut. this is an element that connects the two towers and the whole thing reinforces a bit. this is practically the roof, here we have to start and glue together a few small columns. for that i prepared a few logs. then they get a few small parts. the whole thing is combined with the part and forms the front element. today we will make a few of the reliefs that we have on the building at the round arch.
sã¶nke is working with me because this is a very difficult task and sã¶nke is very experienced in this field. we have already begun. this can be seen here already. so we have made the arch, on the right and left comes a profile and we are preparing it. here we have had the advantage because we have worked with halfs of figures. now we have a problem in the round arch, we reach a straight wall. that means if we will work with halfs of figures, it will not work.
we have to make a kind of corner figures. we take a whole figure and then grind with a disc sander or make it so, as we do it all the time: we cut an arm with a dremel beautifuly regrinding, finished. because we have only six basic figures, we have to make it over, that means change the arms, change the heads afterwards it will be modeled a bit complicated. the gaps will be filled with wet napkins paper.
it should look like as if it is set in stone that is the complex. for the relief we need a figure which is a bit of oblique not devided into halfs, but more facing and that is not so easy to make it with the dremel. for this we use the disc sander. as we can see from the pictures, we've got a few more horses in it and unfortunately we have only one horse in the scale at which the figures are, now we have the drain them. from a small kneading silicone we make casting mold
and then we will pour it with the fast casting resin. for the mold itself, we have the kneading silicone, it looks like this. we have the material itself and the curing agents. we take a little bit of both and knead it until it is nicely mixed and has a homogeneous color. then i put it here and press the horse just approximately half in. this takes about 3 to 5 minutes, and it's hard. thus, it has become hard. i'll take the horse out now. for casting we use fastcast. it has the two-component material and curing agents.
we mix the same, it is 1: 1. at first i take the material and then the curing agents. then i stir it fast and tipp it to the horse. the horse is hardened, this is quite good because the kneading silicone is still a bit soft. we have the complete cast horse here. we grind head off a bit that fits in the thickness forth in the relief. jesko! let the coliseum be coliseum and come over to emanuele. michel has just showed me something here and that has flashed me. look how true to detail it is! that's crazy!
there are a few monk figure, but you have taken them and then horses and then you have made a lot by yourself? or how have you done it? as i said, these are figures of monks who had already these clothes on. he, for example, has got a new arm, new head, a fringe of hair and new clothes. just this one figure? and how long did it take? without aging, we needed a week. i thought nothing can shock me,
but i'm excited completely. and how does it go on? next, we will take the large statues in attack. they are here on top, here, there and down there is another one. they are from copper, or? oxidized? yes, that are bronze statues. i have already prepared something, it looks like this. how cool! here you can see right patina or oxidation. i would like to do something with you. and then you throw it in the trash? no, that we will use later. so michel, what i have to do? in essential, there are three steps. the goal is to achieve this patina.
we have this reference horse. there are three steps. at first, priming with brown , so a bronze color. then we are painting the whole thing dry and graniting. i will show you. for this we use this green, as verdigris. in the last step, we will paint dry with white to accentuate the highlights. in german: lots of color, a bit of color, is good as no color. you dive the brush in here and paint it up here until the brush is dry and only leaves traces.
i try it always in this way. then we begin, painting figures, only the upper parts. you're doing it dry again because we really need to do it gently. that's really crazy, with such simple means such beautiful effects can be conjured. it took really not long time. although one sees clearly that mine has become too white, yours is really perfect, michel. but it's really great
how these details shine. and what will be lighted? the statues will be lighted in any case. but these will not? these too. spots will be everywhere. when can i have a look how it is lighted? i am going to work with it two month, and then one week with lightning and then you can have a look at this.i am curious. then in rome section it will be shining and it is really a very, very great masterpiece. jesko! i i have prepared a little piece, which we want to prime and then to age, so it looks a little bit dirty as in reality.
these are parts of the outside of the building and we will prime it now. i have prepared here four pigments for the whole building. it begins with the first one, it is almost white. there is a little bit red and yellow, to make it warmer. but it will not be white it prepares the surface for another pigments. we continue with the second. it will be darker, but the 2 is still relatively subdued.
it is a kind of pure white, but is darker and has a little bit of yellow color. it continues until 4. the 3 is darker too. this is for large pieces of surfaces, when i want to do a bit darker so that they subdued from the rest of the building. and then there is still 4. it is too dark. we can use it, to emphasize depth and to yield the depth. the relief i have aged in this way too. this actually works quite well and we will do this with the parts.
i start with the 3 and the brush on it. this gives more edges. then it looks not so great after a smooth, new paint. to fix it i have such a glue-water mixture. this is simply sprayed. then we take a piece of cloth or a sponge. we wipe itt. thus, the entire out-standing edges come out so it will be white again.this is the piece which appears from paint and this is aged one. it looks better. now i will do it with all parts and then we will glue it.
we aged all pigments. the parts have got the depth. it is not too bright and not too dark. the next step is to glue it on. we will provide the side walls with it. we wil not do it today, but on monday. weekend at first! we stuck with the building in its last gasp. now we will make some parts. i am working now with the outer and front sides. that's actually quite well. there is much small stuff.
we should imagine, that these small parts consist of 8 parts. these have to be glued together individually. that takes a while. it took a day only for these small parts on both sides. i have prepared all columns. that means, we have varnished, aged and then marked in the middle. i have inserted a small pin, it will hold good. today i want to fix all the columns. so far everything is actually done, we have finished with it. there are actually no windows and we will make it today.
there is a lot to pod as you can see. there are 4 parts which needs to be out and that's three per window. it takes quite a while. the windows are podded, we have spring it all. it took 4 hours. now i begin to glued here in the holes. so, 20 minutes you have watched the creation of this masterpiece, michel has built it 4 month. was it more difficult than you have thought?
yes, in any case. this was the first great, what i have built here and that one can not estimate in advance easily. so i can tell you quite honestly, i did not think that you can do it in four months and i think you look out there and it is just great! i've seen it assembled together also the first time in this form, it is amazing! and all this during 4 month! it is unimaginable!
if you have a look at these details, we have already spoken about it, how have you done it, this one figure i painted by myself. if it still is. no, this is the same. i saw by myself how difficult it is, to make such great aging in this engraving, awesome! what was most difficult? basically, the size and the amount of parts. there are altogether about 3000 parts, you should be careful
assign, nothing must be lost... this is difficult. did something held you up? if something held me up? hmmm... all went quite easy. no, it was not all quite easy. there were difficulties here and there, at different locations, which i can not name so in detail. i think it is gas, with such typical beautiful love scene. it is great!
i would like to see it in the darkness. have you seen it in darkness? yes, once.and, was it illuminated?yes. may i be so lucky and have a look at it?yes! then let turn off the lights. man! it is shining so bright in the darkness! have you ever counted how many lights are there? no, i can not say exactly. it does not matter, because there are many lights. then let us go on the construction!
you have made it really great! i would say: fits, wobbles and has no air! it fits namely to the nearest millimeter. from up here, it is really cool. i do not know how you see it from out there this is the main perspective. then be our visitors! i hop right down and look at that, because with these axes is the best.
you can look at it from the side or from behind, but that is just awesome! but this place should not be used. only michel can use it today! by the way, how is it with columns? disapears it from the look? i should say, we have thought a lot about it. the solution which we have found is good. liz has painted it already.
we have considered whether we dress up the columns completely or a little bit or we let the column be the column, we have desided. we are here in the old store, we let the column be the column and i think that it is absolutely the right decision. but convince yourself, come right here! i hope we have it really finished in four to five weeks, then it will be: bella italia live in wonderland! until that time we will show you many great new episodes,
so be online with us, and i think jesko will get it right, to make some really cool lightened scenes, so we close this thing and there are really cool end titles! take care! see you in the next episode!
